Abstract

SUAREZ-CASTILLO, Germán. Information Equity in the Right to Rectification. Palabra Clave [online]. 2009, vol.12, n.2, pp.315-323. ISSN 0122-8285.

In response to the publication of false and erroneous information in the mass media, the Colombian Constitution establishes the right to rectification under fair conditions. However, there is no concurrence between doctrine, the academic community and the judiciary on a unanimous criterion concerning the legal scope of information equity. For this reason, the Constitutional Court has established, through its rulings, a variety of tenets aimed at guaranteeing information equity that seeks redress for those whose rights have been affected by journalistic publications.

Keywords : Fundamental rights; rectification of information; information equity; balanced information; information coverage; due process.
