In the 18^th century the interest of the Crown was reborn for some rather forgotten products, especially for the pearls and emeralds of the Nueva Granada; as a result, the y developed a series of reports. The present, till now unpublished, was conducted by the Italian Pedro Puch, who like other foreigners has settled as technicians at the Court. The author develops a few fundamental points: quality of the product, inefficiency in his exploitation and control of the smugglers.
