Abstract

Current debates reaffirm that the landscape is not a simple fact of nature, but a product of human interaction with nature, that is, a human construction. Cultural landscapes are historical products, resulting from the activities of our ancestors; constructed over time as a result of the different social practices. This text tells about a possible relationship between the logic of different interventions two hydrographic basin -the Guadalquivir (Spain) River and Paraíba do Sul River (Brazil)- in the nineteenth century. Landscapes add to the issue related to these rivers.
