A few decades of evolution of the purposes to be explored, moving from more auditing activities to others of orientation and pedagogical guidance. For this purpose we have reviewed legal regulations, pedagogical literature, and different information transmitted by the press. The political and pedagogical contexts were important to introduce the successive changes such as the educational style that had to go with the professional exercise of the Inspection. Concerning to the protagonists of this task, we pay attention to some of the female inspectors who joined in the second decade of the century. All this reality contributed, with progress and setbacks, to settle guidelines, ways of proceeding and a kind of presence in the institutions intended to improve teaching-learning processes.
