Abstract

CAMARDA-MEDINA, Maximiliano. An approximation to the economic growth of the merchants of the Rio de la Plata Region during the second half of the 18th century. Hist. Caribe [online]. 2019, vol.14, n.35, pp.247-270. ISSN 0122-8803.  https://doi.org/10.15648/hc.35.2019.9.

This article discusses some of the mechanisms enrichment River Plate traders and commercial growth of the Rio de la Plata region during the last decades of the eighteenth century. The hypothesis we propose is that there was a triangulation where for goods entering from the Spanish peninsula and hides were sent into America these goods were exchanged for precious metals. These precious metals accumulated in the Rio de la Plata region and traders who participated in this activity.
