Resumen
FRANCO AYALA, Martha Susana y OLIVER ESPINOSA, Olimpo Juan. Diseases of Newborn Foals and their Epidemiology: A Review. Rev. Med. Vet. [online]. 2015, n.29, pp.91-105. ISSN 0122-9354.
Diseases of foals and their epidemiology have been documented in many studies, which have found that morbidity varies from 25% to 88.5%, and mortality between 0.38% and 22%. It was determined that both morbidity and mortality are primarily associated with infectious diseases and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. These studies have identified several risk factors associated with the mother, the farm, the labor, or the foal, which increase the presentation of disease and death in observed populations. This article reviews the most common diseases in newborn foals and their epidemiology.
