Abstract

TOLE, José Julián. Free Trade Agreements between the U.S. and the Latin American countries: a model of "shallow" economic integration for the Americas. Rev. Derecho Estado [online]. 2013, n.30, pp.251-300. ISSN 0122-9893.

Abstract The U.S. FTA model become an instrument of integration "ideal" to enhance its geopolitical and geo-economic interests in the Americas, since it facilitates the construction of small blocks that will improve the U.S. weight on the international scene and in some sectors international trade. In this context, the aim of this paper is to analyze this model "made to order" by the U.S. to regulate and deepen trade liberalization, without considering in any way a greater degree of integration with Latin American countries.

Keywords : Fta; trade liberalization; regional integration processes.
