MANTILLA FALCON, JULISSA. "Not All Old Age Is the Same": Human Rights of Older Women and the Importance of the Gender Perspective. Rev. Derecho Estado [online]. 2023, n.56, pp.217-245. Epub 15-Mayo-2023. ISSN 0122-9893. https://doi.org/10.18601/01229893.n56.08.
The progressive incorporation of the gender approach to International Human Rights Law has allowed the recognition of the human rights of women and the identification of particular effects, such as sexual violence or femicide. Now, an intersectional approach is important to identify the diversity among women and recognize the situations that they go through due to certain conditions, such as, for example, age. The article focuses on the analysis and recognition of the human rights of older women, highlighting the continuity of gender violence and discrimination that begins in childhood and determines the reality of women when they reach old age, emphasizing in cases of sexual violence, forced motherhood, the role of care assumed by older women as well as their contribution to the search for justice in cases of forced disappearance.
