Since the very beginning, it has mainly followed two directions: an Anthropology of Education with an empirical method and an Anthropology of Education with a philosophical method. We study the first tendency of predominant influence. A concise review of its history permits to conclude that, without leaving aside the knowledge achieved with this scientific task, the Anthropology of Education with a philosophical method can accomplish the formative function of educators in the initial phases. If these professionals carry out further programs in research-action, they require of the use of an empirical method and the Ethnography for the Anthropology of Education.
