Abstract

GORROCHOTEGUI-MARTELL, Alfredo. A Model for Coaching School Administrators. educ.educ. [online]. 2011, vol.14, n.2, pp.369-387. ISSN 0123-1294.

The article offers a description of how 28 school administrators at four municipal schools were coached during a period of one year, and the tools and procedures employed to that end. A portion of the leadership skills model developed by Cardona and García-Lombardía (2009) was adapted to the school environment and applied. It suggests a set of 19 skills and their characteristic behavior, along with a form know as the "progress sheet," which was used to develop the skills of each administrator. Communication, time management and conflict management were the skills the administrators worked on the most individually. The evaluation shows the experience contributed to a change behavior that allows for better school administration.

Keywords : Development of skills; educational administration; coaching administrators; leadership; teacher training.
