The article documents the origin and evolution of the “Student Approach to Learning” (SAL). This trend in research began with the Gothenburg School then spread to Edinburgh and Australia. The ground-breaking authors and their studies are highlighted, and emphasis is given to the pioneering research that was done in Spain, in the Spanish language.
