BRIJALDO, María H.; CASTILLO, Cristian  e  PEREZ, Gerónimo. Main Routes in Hydrogen Production. Ing. compet. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.2, e30211155.  Epub 18-Maio-2021. ISSN 0123-3033.  https://doi.org/10.25100/iyc.v23i2.11155.

The physical and chemical characteristics of hydrogen have made it a good energy vector with great applications in fuel cells and raw material for participation in various chemical processes at the industrial level. Some biomass model molecules have been used to generate hydrogen, including alcohols, carbohydrates, carboxylic acids, and alkanes, among others. These molecules are transformed by thermochemical, chemical, photochemical, electrochemical, catalytic routes, etc., to achieve the highest hydrogen yield. In each one of them, numerous reaction conditions, substrates, and catalysts are used. In this review, the topics mentioned above will be addressed, and some perspective and future research that will be carried out in the field of hydrogen generation will be glimpsed.

Palavras-chave : Biochemistry; Biomass; Catalysts; Hydrogen; Thermochemistry.
