VEGA-CONTRERAS, Nelson Alfonso; VILLADA-CASTILLO, Dora Clemencia e PABON-MORA, Carolina. Evaluation of attalea butyracea oil as an alternative for biodiesel production. Ing. compet. [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.1, e-21912208. Epub 30-Dez-2022. ISSN 0123-3033. https://doi.org/10.25100/iyc.v25i1.12208.
Attalea butyracea is a plant that has a capacity for oil production, which can surpass other species cultivated in tropical zones, such as the African Palm (Elaeis Guineensis). The main objective of the research was to take advantage of the fruit of the Royal Palm (Attalea Butyracea) to obtain oil as a biodiesel alternative in which the particle size was evaluated for the solid-liquid extraction stage, the oil obtained was analyzed physicochemically, followed by the analysis of the fatty acid composition using gas chromatography analysis coupled to masses. The data obtained from the particle size for oil extraction were analyzed with the statistical program SPSS version 17, statistical technique Anova one factor, to determine the particle size for oil extraction. The physicochemical analysis of the oil extracted from Attalea butyracea allowed classifying it as a palm kernel type oil, which presented a high percentage of saturation which favors oxidative stability, so the oil obtained from Attalea butyracea has a high potential to be used as biofuel.
