This article reports the possible left femur head from an adult Stegomastodon from the municipality of Yumbo, Valle del Cauca, Colombia, which currently is part of the Julio Cesar Cubillos Arqueological Museum collection, located in the Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia. Within the South American situation, and more specifically the Colombian context, some hypotheses are proposed, such as the human use of this type of Pleistocenic fauna and the possible causes of its extinction.

Keywords : Mastozoology; Paleontology; Pleistocenic fauna; Early Holocene Period; Yumbo; Valle del Cauca; Colombia.
