Abstract

BAUTISTA, Luis Gabriel; CARDONA, Javier Antonio  and  SOTO, Alberto. SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF Collaria scenica (HEMIPTERA: MIRIDAE) AND Hortensia similis (HEMIPTERA: CICADELLIDAE) IN ANDEAN VALLEYS. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.2, pp.75-84. ISSN 0123-3068.

The spatial distribution of pest insects provides important information in order to optimize the pest management programs and to reduce the application of insecticides. This work studied the spatial distribution of Collaria scenica and Hortensia similis in pastures by using geo-statistic techniques. The methodology was supported on geographic information systems with which coverage maps were generated allowing the determination of the spatial distribution of each arthropod and their complex. It was found that these insects are distributed as an aggregate. This technique is an effective tool for the analysis of arthropod populations of agricultural interest.

Keywords : integrated management of pests; monitoring; spatial distribution.
