Abstract

VELANDIA-PERILLA, Jorge Horacio; YUSTI-MUNOZ, Ana Paola; SANCHEZ-MARTINEZ, Manuel Andrés  and  GIRALDO, Alan. LEUCISM IN LEAF NOSED BATS (CHIROPTERA: PHYLLOSTOMIDAE) OF COLOMBIA. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.2, pp.87-94. ISSN 0123-3068.

Leucism (or partial albinism) in five species of leaf-nosed bats in Colombia: Anoura caudifer, Lonchophylla robusta, Carollia brevicauda, Artibeus lituratus and Dermanura rosenbergi are reported. The specimens present an unusual color pattern in their hair and/or membranes. A. caudifer, A. lituratus and C. brevicauda specimen present absence of pigmentation on ears, nose-leaf and wings, and L. robusta, C. brevicauda and D. rosenbergi specimens have no pigmentation in their hair.
