FEUILLET-HUTADO, Carolina  e  TORRES, Alba Marina. FLORISTIC CHARACTERIZATION OF A HIGH ANDEAN FOREST IN THE PURACE NATIONAL NATURAL PARK, CAUCA, COLOMBIA. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.2, pp.33-42. ISSN 0123-3068.  https://doi.org/10.17151/bccm.2016.20.2.3.

As a result of the study conducted in six forests along an altitudinal gradient between 1,400 and 3,280 m in the central Andes of Cauca, Colombia, 38 species of liverworts were registered and grouped into 9 families and 20 genera. 98% of the records were leafy liverworts and 2% thalloid. The richest families were Lejeuneaceae (20 species), Plagiochilaceae (6) and Frullaniaceae (3). The most numerous genera were Plagiochila and Frullania with eigth and six species, respectively. There were 13 new records of species and two of genera (i.e. Microlejeuna, Omphallanthus) for Cauca. With these new records, is increased to 158 the number of species of liverworts reported for Cauca, Colombia. It's concluded that in the altitudinal gradient sampled in Cauca, the richness of epiphytes liverworts is greater at intermediate altitudes and is lower in the altitudinal extremes.
