Abstract

ZUNIGA-OVIEDO, Marco Antonio  and  SOTO-GIRALDO, Alberto. MICROBIOLOGICAL CONTROL OF Diatraea saccharalis Fabricius (LEPIDOPTERA: CRAMBIDAE) IN SUGARCANE UNDER FIELD CONDITIONS. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2018, vol.22, n.2, pp.33-41. ISSN 0123-3068.  https://doi.org/10.17151/bccm.2018.22.2.3.

Objectives:

To evaluate the susceptibility of Diatraea saccharalis to Beauveria bassiana and Bacillus thuringiensis variety kurstaki under field conditions.

Scope:

Control of D. saccharalis with B. bassiana native strain and with the bacterium B. thuringiensis (DipelR).

Methodology:

The percentage of damage caused by Diatraea larvae and the number of larvae present in the treatments Bb-HN1, Dipel x Bb-HN1 and DipelR in sugarcane was evaluated.

Main results:

Pathogenicity of the microbiological controllers on larvae of D. saccharalis was observed.

Conclusions:

The bacterium B. thuringiensis (DipelR) represent a potential biological alternative for the integrated management of this insect pest.

Keywords : manejo integrado de plagas; hongos entomopatógenos; Bacillus thuringiensis.
