Abstract

MURILLO-RAMIREZ, Oswaldo; RAMIREZ-MONTOYA, María Camila  and  SOTO-GIRALDO, Alberto. Effect of sublethal doses of azadirachtina on the ability to search of the parasitoid Encarsia formosa Gahan. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.1, pp.68-75. ISSN 0123-3068.  https://doi.org/10.17151/bccm.2020.24.1.4.

Objectives.

To evaluate the effect of azadirachtina on the ability to search for the parasitoid Encarsia formosa by volatiles from bean plants infested by Trialeurodes vaporariorum.

Scope.

Azadirachtina does not affect the ability to search for E. formosa.

Methodology.

The effect of azadirachtina in sublethal dose on the ability to search for the parasitoid E. formosa by volatiles from bean plants infested with T. vaporariorum was evaluated.

Main results.

When T. vaporariorum was sprayed with the sublethal dose of azadirachtina, the parasitoid E. formosa exposed to azadirachtina residues continued to prefer the odors of bean plants infested with T. vaporariorum to those of non-infested plants.

Conclusions.

Azadirachtina applied in the sublethal dose does not affect the ability to search for E. formosa on T. vaporariorum.
