Resumen

VIVEROS-FOLLECO, Yohana Maritza; GUZMÁN-PIEDRAHITA, Óscar Adrián  y  VILLEGAS-ESTRADA, Bernardo. Effect of Radopholus similis on the growth of economic importance musaceae genotypes. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2022, vol.26, n.2, pp.65-94.  Epub 16-Nov-2022. ISSN 0123-3068.  https://doi.org/10.17151/bccm.2022.26.2.4.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the response of four musaceae materials to different population densities of R. similis under nursery conditions. Forty-five days after sowing, a total of 448 plantain seedlings (Musa AAB ‘Dominico hartón’, Musa ABB ‘Guineo’), and banana (Musa AAA ‘Gros Michel’ and Musa AA ‘Bananito’), were inoculated with 0, 100, 500, 1000, 3000, 5000 and 10,000 females of R. similis. The plants were evaluated at 60 and 90 days after inoculation-ddi of the nematode, under a completely randomized experimental design. In the variables total dry weight of seedling-TDWS and root length-RL, R. similis caused more than 48% reduction in average. Plantain materials were most susceptible to the nematode with average final root populations-FPNR of 215,575 and 134,181 individuals/100g of roots in ‘Guineo’ and ‘Dominico Hartón’, respectively, while in ‘Gros Michel’ and ‘Bananito’ 82,676 and 44,897 individuals were obtained, respectively. The initial population of the nematode presented a negative linear correlation (P<0.05) with the reproduction factor-RF, so that with initial populations of density of 100 and 500 individuals, the RF was the highest in all genotypes. On the contrary, with populations between 1,000 and 10,000 individuals, the RF was significantly lower in the four genotypes of Musaceae. In conclusion, the seedlings of the plantain materials had lower values in the TDWS and RL variables as well as FPNR, while for the banana materials the damage was lower.
