MORENO-G., Diego Andrés; GIL-N., Jorge Enrique  e  MORALES-P., María Eugenia. Bryophytes Two of Areas of the Municipality of Aguazul, Casanare, Colombia. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.1, pp.13-32.  Epub 22-Ago-2023. ISSN 0123-3068.  https://doi.org/10.17151/bccm.2023.27.1.1.

Goal:

Evaluate the richness, distribution and preference of bryophyte substrates present in two places (El Triunfo and El Englobe) of the municipality of Aguazul-Casanare.

Scope:

Contribute to the knowledge of the bryoflora of the municipality and the Colombian foothills (<800m), being little studied areas and with the recognition of these groups of plants, it is estimated that the diversity of bryophytes may be greater than that currently recorded.

Methodology:

Based on a characterization of two areas of the foothills of the plains in the municipality of Aguazul, we made a general sampling, with the delimitation of four plots of 20x50 m for each locality, and the collection of bryophytes in all the available substrates (bark, decomposing trunk, rock, outcropping root, soil and leaves), in addition to the record of life forms (bushes, tapestry, pendulum, weft, cushions, smooth tapestry, ascending tapestry, talose tapestry and creeping tapestry).

Main results:

We found 88 species (45 liverworts and 43 mosses). Lejeuneaceae is the richest family with 27 species, and in mosses Sematophyllaceae and Hypnaceae with six species each. At the level of genera, Plagiochila presents the highest values (6 species), followed by Lejeunea (5), while Sematophyllum and Fissidens presented four taxa. The species with the highest abundance (presence) are Neckeropsis undulata (Hedw.) Reichardt, Lejeunea laetevirens Nees & Mont. and Sematophyllum subpinnatum (Brid.) E. Britton. The trunk substrate presented 66 species each. With 43.12%, the pleurocarpic growth form was the most frequent in moss, while the foliose type with 31.47% were liverworts. The form of life in bushes, with 184 records, corresponds to the most representative for mosses and with 106 in the form of smooth carpet for liverworts. 42 new records of bryophytes are presented for the department of Casanare.

Conclusions:

The species composition is consistent with that recorded in lowland forests, with a higher percentage of liverwort taxa on mosses and dominance of the Lejeuneaceae family in all substrates. The number of bryophytes is increased to 90 species of liverworts and 70 mosses and the first list of bryoflora for the department of Casanare.
