Abstract

TARQUINI-PICHON, Saron Senna; GRANADOS-MARTINEZ, Cristian  and  GUZMAN-SOTO, Cristian. First record of the genus Chloronia Banks, 1908 (Megaloptera, Corydalidae) for the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.1, pp.161-165.  Epub Oct 02, 2023. ISSN 0123-3068.  https://doi.org/10.17151/bccm.2023.27.1.11.

The genus Chloronia has been previously reported from different locations in Central and South America. It belongs to the Megaloptera order, which is characterized by having membranous wings, protruding eyes, well-developed mouthparts, strong jaws, and long antennae in its adult phase. The genus Chloronia (Megaloptera, Corydalidae) is reported for the first time from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in the Colombian Caribbean. An organism was recorded in a place that presents a transition from dry forests to early humid forests, it was observed on a rock covered with moss. A description of the organism at the genus level is included, there are few reports of it because it has not been widely studied.

Keywords : Corydalidae; Megaloptera; New record; Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
