Abstract

LARA MANTILLA, Cecilia. Chemical composition of a culture medium from bitter guava (Psidium araca) and its relation to the ruminals microorganisms nutrition. Rev. colomb. biotecnol [online]. 2008, vol.10, n.2, pp.44-49. ISSN 0123-3475.

The present work compares the results obtained from the chemical characterisation of a new modified culture medium prepared from 25% p/v bitter guava (Psidium araca) juice used for isolating and maintaining microorganisms from rumen and dung and their nutritional relationship. The results suggested that the modified culture medium could be a useful alternative for this microbiota’s development and growth.

Keywords : Ruminal microorganisms; medium of culture; Guava (Psidium araca).
