RODAS JUNCO, Beatriz Adriana; QUERO BAUTISTA, Mireya; MAGANA SEVILLA, Héctor Felipe  e  REYES RAMIREZ, Arturo. Selection of natives strains of Bacillus sp. with chitinolytic and proteolytic activity, isolated from tropical soils. Rev. colomb. biotecnol [online]. 2009, vol.11, n.1, pp.107-113. ISSN 0123-3475.

The aim of this work was the selection of native strains of the genus Bacillus with chitinolytic and proteolytic activity in soil in the tropical coast of Oaxaca, Mexico. We isolated 150 strains, of which 22 strains were selected by submitting chitinolytic and proteolytic activity. This activity was assessed by the formation of hydrolysis halo around the colony in culture media supplemented with colloidal chitin, and 5% skim milk to 1% respectively. LUM strains B001, B003, B013, B015 and B065-chitin showed higher proteolytic activity, have the potential to be evaluated in biological control of plant pathogenic fungi. The genus Bacillus were found distributed in cultivated and uncultivated soils, we found no statistical differences according to the crop (P <0.05), but differences were significant (P <0.05) between the areas studied, with lower recoveries of strains For land in the municipality of Tututepec, Oaxaca.

Palavras-chave : Hydrolysis method; colloidal chitin; chitinases; proteases.
