TERRY ALFONSO, Elein; RUIZ PADRON, Josefa  e  TEJEDA PERAZA, Tamara. The effect of a Pseudomona aeruginosa-based bioproduct on a tomato crop (Solanum licopersicum Mill). Rev. colomb. biotecnol [online]. 2010, vol.12, n.1, pp.32-38. ISSN 0123-3475.

Bioproduct use has gradually increased in the agriculture of countries promoting change towards an insecticide model more in harmony with the environment. The present work was aimed at evaluating the response of a tomato crop to the application of Gluticid® (a bioproduct obtained from Pseudomona aeruginosa, PSS strain). The experiments were carried out in experimental areas belonging to the Cuban National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (INCA); five treatments were studied, four involving Gluticid® application and a test treatment. The Gluticid® treatments were carried out by submerging the seed with the product (15 and 30 minutes) and then a second foliate application of the bioproduct was carried out. Some growth indicators were evaluated and agricultural yield was determined. The results confirmed the bioproduct’s effectiveness; a single application of Gluticid® involving 15 minutes’ submersion stood out as being the most effective treatment. This confirmed this bioproduct’s effectiveness in obtaining vigorous plants and obtaining acceptable yields.
