Abstract

This paper analyzes the dynamics of the transformation of the urban structure of Bogota. It identifies certain factors which resulted in phenomena such as urban fragmentation and social segregation during the period from the building of the first shopping center to the present (2014). The analysis allows us to understand the dynamics of the changes in the physical configuration and in their relation to political, economic and social structures in the capital of the country during different periods. A descriptive and explanatory research with emphasis on urban geography was adopted. It repeated the primary and secondary sources review process, with qualitative and quantitative data, plus methodological triangulation.
