Abstract

SEPULVEDA-CORZO, Juan Gabriel. Gentrification outside of the traditional downtown? Morphological and functional transformation of the north pericentre of Bogotá, Colombia. Perspectiva Geográfica [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.1, pp.33-48. ISSN 0123-3769.  https://doi.org/10.19053/01233769.6106.

This paper shows a conceptual review and update of the gentrification phenomenon under the hypothesis that it is not exclusive to central or foundational areas of cities, but is presented under different urban, economic and social conditions that are indifferent to its geographic location. From this idea, it is evident how in Bogotá transformations have occurred through specific morphological and functional factors, particularly in the northern pericentre of the city, which are addressed from phenomena such as gentrification and residential segregation.

Keywords : Bogotá; gentrification; pericentre; morphological transformation.
