Abstract

GARCIA SCHILARDI, María Emilia. Evaluation of the operational dimension of collective transport in the metropolitan area of Mendoza, Argentina. Perspectiva Geográfica [online]. 2017, vol.22, n.2, pp.29-46. ISSN 0123-3769.  https://doi.org/10.19053/01233769.5965.

Sustainable urban mobility models become a key component to the development of modern societies and cities. These have as premises to privilege massive services and non-motorized transports, optimizing the use of urban space, the consumption of natural resources and the negative impact on the environment. This work is developed within the framework of the sustainable urban mobility approach; it aims at assessing the effectiveness of the operative system of the massive transport of the Mendoza metropolitan area. In this way, it will be possible to know if the mobility model of the AMM tends to be sustainable. For this evaluation, there are used variables and indicators. As a result, it is detected that in the /AMM the collective transport system does not behave optimally so it does not promote desirable characteristics for sustainability.

Keywords : efficiency; indicators; massive transport; sustainable urban mobility.
