Abstract

RESTREPO, Jorge Emiro. Unembodied mind: Historical and philosophical considerations of cognitive psychology. Psicol. caribe [online]. 2009, n.24, pp.59-90. ISSN 0123-417X.

The text outlines the origin of the cognitive psychology as a reaction because of the infecundity of the paradigms and psychological schools of half-filled of the XX century. An historical study of the factors that contributed to the development and consolidation of the epistemological frame of the cognitive paradigm is carried out: the Theory of the Information, The Cybernetics and the Psicolinguistic. For each one of these factors, an analysis of the theoretical, conceptual and philosophical contributions that nurtured cognitive psychology is developed,. The ontological and conceptual budgets that underlie each factor and the way is stood out like these enter and they take place inside the epistemological frame of the cognitive psychology are reflexively studied. The discussion regarding a return to the cognitive paradigm and not, like one thinks, an origin of this is discussed. The implicit philosophy of mind in the cognitive paradigm is analyzed and they are pointed out and it discusses some implications. Lastly, it is discussed the sought autonomy of the cognitive explanation and the epistemological validity of this.
