Abstract

SANCHEZ-JIMENEZ, Elvia  and  CEPEDA-CUERVO, Edilberto. Are basic and middle school students victims of aggression by their teachers?. Psicol. caribe [online]. 2014, vol.31, n.2, pp.223-242. ISSN 0123-417X.

The purpose of this article is to characterize the level of victimization of 3226 students from basic and middle education, in Bogotá, Colombia; this was achieved by taking the student's perception about the episodes of abuse exerted on them by some of their teachers. The instrument applied "bullying of students by their teachers", assesses 20 potential aggression situations from the teacher towards the students. We present results of the descriptive statistical analysis of the data, using item res-ponse theory. The results obtained in this research indicate that, although rare, students are victims of abuse by some teachers.

Keywords : school violence; teaching abuse; education; teacher-student relationship.
