Abstract

SANTIAGO VILLA, Henny Margoth. HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL IMPORTANCE OF WETLANDS OF BOGOTA'S NORTHERN BORDER (COLOMBIA). rev.udcaactual.divulg.cient. [online]. 2012, vol.15, n.1, pp.167-180. ISSN 0123-4226.

In the Sabana de Bogotá, wetlands have been a place for human settlements of several societies that have occupied the region for at least 2000 years. The revision presented in this document explained a series of historical and cultural reflections about the wetlands of the Sabana de Bogotá, especially those located on the northern border of the city of Bogotá D.C. The text covers a period from pre-Hispanic times to the present, which allows an approach to the symbolic and cultural meanings that different communities, that existed in the Sabana de Bogota, over time, have given to the ecosystems.

Keywords : Wetlands; History; Sabana de Bogotá; Muiscas.
