Abstract

LOPEZ MURCIA, Miguel Ángel. PEA CROP (Pisum sativum L.) RESPONSETO THE NICKEL APPLICATION. rev.udcaactual.divulg.cient. [online]. 2012, vol.15, n.2, pp.357-362. ISSN 0123-4226.

Nickel (Ni) is considered the last of the essential micronutrient for higher plants because of its participation in the urease enzyme. However, to date there is little research regarding its influence on growth and crop production. With the aim to determine the response of pea plants to the application of Ni, a test was performed in the installation at the University of Applied and Environmental Sciences U.D.C.A, were four treatments were analyzed, being the doses of Ni: 0.0, 2.0; 4.0 and 6.0 mg L-1 Ni. The research was conducted in a randomized complete block design. The plants were seeded in pots containing washed river sand as a substrate. The results showed that the application of 2.0 mg L-1 promoted increased production of total dry mass, represented by the number of pods per plant and the number of grains per pod. However, these results were not statistically significant. The foliar concentrations of Ni ranged from close to 0.0 in the control and 13.73 mg kg-1 in the treatment 6.0 mg L-1, concentrations near 5.0 mg kg-1 were associated with higher growth in pea plants.
