Because of the environmental, economic and social importance of water resources, it is important to have a relevant research, that serves as a base for its integral management. Therefore, it is intended to highlight the advances of the scientific community of Colombia, carrying out research on the integrated management of water resources. Documentary and platform Scienti exploratory methodology was used and inquiry took place in focus groups, at national and regional level. Six lines and 37 sublines were identified in the public sector at the national level; 166 research groups, deepening into five thematic themes, which developed in its interior 54 research lines; and at the regional level, a gap between what has been achieved and a listing of issues to investigate was found.
