DIAZ L, Claudio; MARTINEZ I, Patricia; ROA G, Iris  e  SANHUEZA J, María Gabriela. A snapshot of a group of English teachers' conceptions about English teaching and learning in Chilean public education. Folios [online]. 2010, n.31, pp.69-80. ISSN 0123-4870.

This paper analyzes the pedagogical conceptions of a group of ten English teachers from the Chilean State educational sector, who work in secondary education. The following didactic components of English teaching and learning process are identified: English theoretical foundations, teacher's role, role of students, teaching objectives, contents, methodology, activities, teaching resources and materials, and learning assessment. This qualitative study uses a semi-structured interview and a Likert survey to collect the data. The results show all respondents hold a strong orientation towards an eclectic didactic model. Also, this paper is part of the research project funded by the Ministry of Education FONIDE 09, 2008, entitled "Los procesos de cognición y actuación docente como ejes articuladores del saber pedagógico y su impacto en el diseño de un modelo de práctica pedagógica reflexiva para la formación inicial docente: un estudio en algunos establecimientos municipalizados de la octava región".
