JURADO VALENCIA, Fabio; SANCHEZ CASTELLON, Ligia; CERCHIARO CEBALLOS, Elda    PABA BARBOSA, Carmelina. Pedagogical practice and written language: A quest for sense. []. , 37, pp.17-25. ISSN 0123-4870.

This article offers reflections regarding pedagogical practices which are predominant in the initial learning of reading and writing in school. The research corresponds to a qualitative study in which pre-school and elementary-school teachers of Santa Marta are participants, as well as students of both the pre-school education bachelor's degree of the University of Magdalena and the Normal Superior San Pedro Alejandrino School. Workshops, meetings with focus groups, observation of participants in the classroom, work with advertising texts, video recordings and in-depth interviews, and virtual communication were the basic tools used in the process of the communicative approach. The outcome shows the continuation and complexity of eclecticism in pedagogical practices which implies the incorporation of the communicative focus in the initiation of students in reading and writing in school.
