BERNAL, Álvaro Antonio. "This land belongs to nobody": Urban Allegory of an Eternal Conflict in a Bogota Slum: A Reading of the Colombian Film Like the Cat and the Mouse. Folios [online]. 2022, n.55, pp.31-44.  Epub 22-Jul-2022. ISSN 0123-4870.  https://doi.org/10.17227/folios.55-13387.

In the Colombian film Like the Cat and the Mouse (2002), the daily life of a slum on the borders of Bogotá Is depicted. Through a series of uninterrupted community struggles, in search of better living conditions for the inhabitants of the area, the ideals of progress are lost, and an endless cycle of violence appears. This article analyzes the realistic aesthetics of the film based on neighborhood relations within a context of marginallty and based on the perspective it represents: an urban allegory to our historical conflicts. It Is proposed, then, that the plot of the story turns out to be a metaphor, a representation, a reflection of the chronic disputes of our society.

Palavras-chave : Bogota; marginality; film Like the cat and the Mouse, urban violence.
