Abstract
FLANTRMSKY-CARDENAS, Óscar Giovanny. Comic and Graphic Novel as Minor Literature: Debates and Validity as a Cultural Product. Folios [online]. 2022, n.56, pp.3-16. Epub Nov 09, 2022. ISSN 0123-4870. https://doi.org/10.17227/folios.56-13477.
The discussion about the artistic-literary nature of the comic is not new nor has it been devoid of the old prejudices that have accompanied it since its massification as a reading object. Added to this debate is the appearance of a novel denomination: Graphic Novel. For this reason, this reflection article analyzes whether there is a distinction between comic and graphic novel, and proposes, instead of assuming it as literature, to approach the comic considering the minor literature concept, proposed by Deleuze and Guattari, as a solution that guarantees its autonomy and validity as a cultural product. For this, the main theoretical approaches on the graphic novel and the comic have been analyzed, as well as the axial points on the concept of minor literature, exposed by Deleuze and Guattari, in order to make visible the different openings in the understanding and production art of the contemporary world.
Keywords : comic; graphic novel; minor literature; Gilles Deleuze; Felix Guattari.
