Abstract

ARJONA-QUINTERO, Jorge Ernesto; BALLESTEROS-ALBARRACIN, Nine Yofana  and  QUINTERO-MEJIA, Marieta. The Promise of Education: Narratives of Ex-combatants and the Surrounding Community. Folios [online]. 2022, n.56, pp.93-108.  Epub Nov 10, 2022. ISSN 0123-4870.  https://doi.org/10.17227/folios.56-13447.

This article reports the narratives of ex-combatants and the community surrounding the Martín Villa Territorial Training and Reincorporation Center (ETCR) in the territory of Arauca on the promise of education. Alongside the narratives of harm and pain, we find aspirational narratives of the right to education as a guarantee of reincorporation. These narratives arise from the implementation of a technical program in the Philippines, which was affected for more than sixty years by the internal armed conflict, today a space for reconciliation between ex-combatants and civil society.

Keywords : promise of education; rurality; armed conflict; narratives; peace.
