Resumen
PLATA, William Elvis y TORRES, Lizeth Viviana. Armed conflict and Christian churches in contemporary Colombia (1964-2021): state of the art. Folios [online]. 2024, n.60, pp.79-96. Epub 06-Sep-2024. ISSN 0123-4870. https://doi.org/10.17227/folios.60-17369.
This article provides a comprehensive bibliographic review of the social research published in recent decades on the actions that the Christian churches (Catholic, Protestant and Pentecostal) have assumed in the face of the contemporary Colombian armed conflict. To do this, it performs an external (bibliometric) and internal (thematic) analysis of some 150 texts. It is determined that the topic is of growing interest by historians and social scientists, whose publications have increased dramatically in the last decade. On the other hand, research highlights that the attitude of the churches has focused, especially around dialogue and mediation, peaceful resistance and resilience and reconstruction of the social fabric. The role of ecclesial agents as actors in the conflict is also highlighted, especially in the 1960s and 1970s. The publications, however, still tend to be centralist, generalizing and masculine; case studies, including the gender perspective, are just beginning to be produced.
