This paper uses for the first time the GDP data for Cali recently published by the Department of Economics at Icesi University . This data is used to show that the reason for Cali´s economic crisis in 1998 and 1999 is the fall of the averaga productivity per worker. In fact, the average productivity per worker did fall at a greater rate in Cali than in Bogota and the national level. We also found that Cali´s economy has a greater volatily than Colombia and Bogota .
