Abstract

CRIADO FERNANDEZ, MARÍA DEL MAR; ARROYO BARRIGUETE, JOSÉ LUIS  and  LOPEZ SANCHEZ, JOSÉ IGNACIO. ORGANIZACIONES VIRTUALES Y REDES NEURONALES: ALGUNAS SIMILITUDES. estud.gerenc. [online]. 2005, vol.21, n.97, pp.117-125. ISSN 0123-5923.

Though there is a plethora of studies that describe the main characteristics and operation of virtual organizations, there is still a lack of mathematical quantitative models that reflect the behavior of these organizations. In this regard, this article is aimed at discussing the existing similarities in the operation of virtual organizations and neuronal networks (SOM’s or Self-Organizing Maps). The purpose is to provide the basis to propose this type of statiscal technique as a tool for formulating virtual organization models. It poses a series of plausibility arguments, but a rugorous verification of this proposal will be the subject of further research studies.

Keywords : Virtual organizations; SOM networks; Kohonen’s maps.
