Abstract

This article meets the theoretical basis on the design parameters of the structure of the organization, within the framework of structural contingency, and reports on how companies are taking restructuring events, through a descriptive study in a sample of 92 industrial SMES of Bogotá. The results show that a) the organizational redesign does not respond itself to a formal and systematic exercise based on the strategy, b) structural adjustment with the environment occurs partially and c) re-structuring, when it happens, simply responds to translational maneuvers, elimination or creation of jobs, taking as the only reference to the organization chart.
