Abstract

BRONFMAN, Roberto Stein; CONTRERAS, Orlando E.  and  BOTTIA SANTOS, Yeison Fabian. Descriptive analysis of bank fee income in the Colombian financial sector during the years 2006-2010. estud.gerenc. [online]. 2014, vol.30, n.132, pp.267-276. ISSN 0123-5923.

The aim of this paper is to describe the behavior of total income in the Colombian banking sector from the perspective of those services that banks offer to their clients in parallel with financial intermediation which generates charges and fees. The main result of this article shows that both at the aggregate level and as a function of gross financial margin, there is a negative relationship between interest income and bank fee income, which suggests that the Colombian banking sector has developed a complementary cycle between the 2 sources of income.

Keywords : Bank fee income; Financial intermediation; Colombian banking sector; Banking fees.
