RODRIGUEZ, María Candela; DABOS, Guillermo E.  e  RIVERO, Andrea G.. Implementing work-life balance policies in SMEs: a multiple case study in the software industry. estud.gerenc. [online]. 2018, vol.34, n.147, pp.172-189. ISSN 0123-5923.  https://doi.org/10.18046/j.estger.2018.147.2592.

The literature on work-life balance policies has grown significantly in recent years. However, few research studies have explored its implementation in small and medium-sized enterprises, particularly, in highly dynamic sectors of the economy, where talent retention is a key source of competitive advantage. Through a qualitative multiple case study approach, this paper examines the work-life balance policies put in place in four small and medium-sized software companies in Argentina. Our findings report the existence of two modes for implementation: standardized benefits broadly available to all and individualized benefits negotiated by each employee. Furthermore, a number of organizational factors and individual characteristics are identified that determine employee access to benefits.
