Abstract

SALAZAR-SOLANO, Vidal; MORENO-DENA, Jesús Mario; ROJAS-RODRIGUEZ, Isaac Shamir  and  ISLAS-OLAVARRIETA, Leonardo Antonio. Information and communication technologies adoption level in mango retail companies based in Nayarit - Mexico. estud.gerenc. [online]. 2018, vol.34, n.148, pp.292-304. ISSN 0123-5923.  https://doi.org/10.18046/j.estger.2018.148.2639.

This paper aims to characterize the adoption of information and communication technologies among companies that gather, store and retail mangoes in Nayarit (Mexico). A descriptive, cross-sectional design was used, applying a semi-structured interview to a population universe of 14 companies, complemented by observation techniques. The results showed major areas of opportunity for leveraging these technologies, which reflects limited views that consider the purchase of these technologies as an expenditure on equipment rather than as a strategic investment. C-level executives’ views on this area in themselves major barriers to adequately access the global market, since their impact on competitiveness management is unquestionable in the documented business experience.

Keywords : information and communication technologies; mango; retail companies.
