Abstract

TARAPUEZ-CHAMORRO, Edwin; ARISTIZABAL-TAMAYO, Juan Manuel  and  MONARD-BLANDON, Catherine. Sociodemographic and family aspects and entrepreneurial intention among Master of Business Administration students in Colombia. estud.gerenc. [online]. 2018, vol.34, n.149, pp.422-434. ISSN 0123-5923.  https://doi.org/10.18046/j.estger.2018.149.2757.

Determining factors of entrepreneurial intention (EI) among young people have not been fully elucidated. Thus, this study aims to analyze the incidence of sociodemographic and family factors on entrepreneurial initiatives in a sample of 485 MBA students in Colombia. A probabilistic analysis was carried out by means of logistic regression models for each set of variables. The main findings indicate that the logit exhibits greater explanatory power in the group of sociodemographic factors. Particularly, having entrepreneur friends increases the likelihood of EI compared to the remaining variables analyzed.

Keywords : entrepreneurial intention; sociodemographic factors; family factors.
