Abstract

PADILLA CHASING, Iván Vicente. LOS EJÉRCITOS: A NOVEL OF FEAR, UNCERTAINTY AND DESPAIR. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2012, vol.14, n.1, pp.121-158. ISSN 0123-5931.

This paper seeks to explain, first of all, the way in which the writer inserts himself into the sphere of the Colombian novel, assuming a critical stance in relation to certain discourses which can be characterized as official (religion, the media, the government). From the standpoint of this kind of resistance, the type of novel adopted (phenomenal) and the character understood, not as an abstraction, but as a system of chronotopical and dialogic correlations, takes on considerable importance. In this sense, Los ejércitos is interpreted as a space enabling us to better understand spaces, world views, times belonging to a very heterogeneous cultural reality.

Keywords : Colombia; despair; Evelio José Rosero; novel; phenomenal; violence.
