Abstract

AIELLO, Francisco. ELABORATIONS OF HAITIAN CULTURE IN DANY LAFERRIÈRE'S PAYS SANS CHAPEAU. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2013, vol.15, n.2, pp.167-180. ISSN 0123-5931.

This article deals with the novel Pays sans chapeau, published in 1996 by the Haitian writer Dany Laferrière (1953). Since it's a text about the return to his homeland after twenty years of exile in North America, the novel provides an opportunity to examine the narrator's reunion with his own culture, specially with his mother tongue -créole- and voodoo, whose discursive elaboration we propose to analyze.

Keywords : Dany Laferrière; Pays sans chapeau; créole; voodoo; West Indian Literature; Haitian culture.
