Following the indications found in the archives of João Guimarães Rosa, the article addresses the way in which the author's work creates its own theory through a dialogue with "vestigial protocols of literature" and a discussion with "autonomist protocols". It shows how "Meu tio o Iauaretê" deconstructs assumptions of ontological priority. Finally, it reflects on the operation through which the author situates himself at the margins of the story, reproducing, through his own silence, the historical silencing of others and thus giving a place to those who never had one.
