This paper discusses the discursive construction of terminal illness as a prelude to death and the climactic moment of creation and sinister beauty. Evil is the path to the possession of the body; deterioration, the path of knowledge and revelation which opposes nothingness, the antagonist of beauty. With Efecto invernadero, Bellatin offers the possibility of conceiving illness as an imperative for creating the most important work, the final moment of life itself, through writing which is polished over the years, as a game whose rules include the untouchable of life.
